June 2025 - Painting of the Month

Hello! I’m participating in my first First Friday event on July 4th, 4-8pm. You’re invited! More info below.

First (how many “firsts” can I have in this email?), here’s a new painting. It’s a view up the East Inlet on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. I’ve painted a couple of other versions of this scene, and like poppies and Flatirons, I can’t get enough of Rocky Mountain National Park! I love and support all of our national parks and public lands for that matter.

On Friday, July 4th, I’ll be participating in my first First Friday event at the Boulder Art Association (BAA). Several artists painted small 6x6 inch paintings on the theme of red, white, and blue, and below is the one I entered. If you have cross-country skied at Snow Mountain Ranch, you might recognize this barn. I’ll also have a larger painting showing, and I’ll be there with a table of small paintings and greeting cards. Stop by! It you find the Wilderness Studios, BAA is in the same building but on the back side.

First Friday:

Painting by Lisa Seaman, low canyon, big sky

And for fun, here’s one more painting from June! I took a week-long abstract landscape painting class and really enjoyed it! I hope to do some more “abstracty” landscapes. I like the sense of calm in the simplified landscape, I still like playing with color, and yes, everything is still done with a palette knife.

“The Canyons are Calling”
