Love Letter to NCAR - March 2026

My painting of the month for March is “Love Letter to NCAR.” It’s actually more than a painting, it’s also a short love letter. You can watch and listen to me read my love letter to NCAR in two ways, either via Love Letter to NCAR on Facebook or via Love Letter to NCAR on Instagram. I’d be honored if you took a listen. Does anything come to mind about what you love about NCAR? If so, I’d love to hear from you!

Related to this love letter, I’m hosting a “Love Letters to Public Lands” art exhibit at my home on Saturday, April 4th, 3-6pm, in association with Boulder Arts Week. My main living room gallery will be filled with paintings of nearby public lands along with a written love letter to each particular public land. I invite you to stop by! (If you read last month’s newsletter, we changed the event to Saturday.)

More details can be found at this Facebook event for Love Letters to Public Lands or via this Boulder Arts Week event for Love Letters to Public Lands. Another artist, Roberta Walbert will also join me with her amazing glass mosaic mandalas!

I started plein air painting! I got a new set up, and I’ve been painting with oil paints outside because the oils stay wet and paintable longer than acrylic paints. Here I am painting a local barn.

I was able to ride my e-bike to the painting spot. Well, I actually walked my bike the last 50 feet to where I painted, and I have some great bike bags and a sturdy back basket to carry things. I love getting around by bike. Peddle to Paint? The Paint Peddler? Send me your silly names for how to brand my “painting by bike.”

Everywhere I go, I’m now keeping my eyes open for potential plein air painting spots. In addition to bike-to-paint, I’ll be doing some hike-to-paint outings too! I’m gearing up to participate in the Boulder County Plein Air Festival.

If you’ve read to the end, I appreciate you! Questions and comments are welcome.

If you have friends who want to be added to my monthly newsletter, new folks can subscribe to my newsletter here.

Sending you my best wishes!
