February 2026 - Painting of the Month

A scene from Scotland is my February painting of the month! John (pictured below) commissioned this painting as a surprise birthday present for his wife. They visited Scotland last summer, and if you’re a foodie (which I’m not exactly, John had to tell me), the small white building on the left is the famous and most excellent restaurant Inver.

I dared to paint bigger again this month, and this next painting is closer to home. Do any of you know the South Boulder Creek Trail near the town of Marshall? I walk there fairly often from my house. If you know the trail, there’s a portion of boardwalk, and this scene is right after coming around the corner from that boardwalk as you start to head north.

Have you hiked at Caribou Ranch? The bunkhouse at Blue Bird Mine inspired this painting. I love hiking up there!

What do you know, Open Studios Boulder has selected a painting of mine to brand their marketing materials for the fall 2026 Open Studios Tour! I’m so humbled! Here’s an image from a recent Instagram post. More to come as we get closer to the Open Studios Tour in October.

As part of Boulder Arts Week, I’ll be having an Open House on Friday, April 3. Another artist, Roberta Walbert, will join me with her amazing mosaic glass work. We’re calling it “South Boulder First Friday! SOBO It Is!
