August 2025 - Painting of the Month

My painting of the month for August is a new pink robin. I’m calling it “Paulie Punch Peers Patiently.” I was thinking of p’s for pink robin, and I was attempting to channel Annie Proulx (the writer) and the unusual names she gives her characters. I can’t quite match up to Annie, but what the heck!

I actually painted four pink robins this month, and I’m debating leaving some of them with an orange background. Or maybe I’ll add a pale olive green background. Or something else!

Reply to this email, and let me know what you think I should do with the background. :)

This month, I was honored to do a painting demo for the Paletteers Art Club in Adams County, CO! I started painting the pink robin above. My husband Bart kindly came along to help me carry things and to offer support. We also planned on him taking some photos and videos, but we forgot until it was over. Haha! He did get this photo as we were wrapping up. I estimate there were 20 people at the demo. I had a lot of fun! What a great club!

My painting “Poppies Are The Best” is now on display and for sale at The New Local gallery at 741 Pearl Street in Boulder. On Thursday, August 21 (as in tomorrow!), there is a downtown Boulder Art Walk from 4-7pm, and I’ll be at the New Local from about 6-7pm. I invite you to come by and say hi!

Sold! What a delight to sell “Spring Poppies Are My Favorite” to this adorable family. They visit relatives in Boulder regularly, but they live elsewhere, and they wanted to take some of Boulder home with them. I love connecting with people through art!

Questions and comments are welcome! Feel free to reply to this email. Sending you my best wishes!
