November 2025 - Painting of the Month

It was great to see many of you at Open Studios last month! Thanks to those of you who were able to visit. I always welcome informal home studio tours. If you’d like to visit, just let me know and we can arrange a time. I’m writing to share two new paintings for November, and also to let you know about a First Friday event I’m participating in with the Boulder Art Association.

My November painting of the month is “Flowers on the Table.” It’s funny how predictable and consistent this two-part feeling is when I create a painting. First I’m thinking, “Well, I’m not so sure about this one!” Then second, the next day, I’ll look at it and react, “Hey, that’s not too bad!” The next day reaction is much more positive. I almost always go from, hmm, this one isn’t turning out so good, to the next day (or two or three days later), looking at it and saying, “Well, I kinda like it!” And I do kinda like this painting!

“Flowers on the Table”
21x21 inches, framed, acrylic on canvas
Sold, painted as a commission

I also painted this little Magnolia Warbler bird in November. I had fun with the branch in that it wraps around on the bottom edge of the canvas. Sorry you can’t see that in this photo! But you can imagine it.

Getting My Yellow On”

10x10 inches, acrylic on canvas
$200

On December 5, 2025, I’ll be participating in the First Friday event with Boulder Art Association and Wilderness Studios. I’ll be there from about 6pm-7:30pm. I’ll have three snow-themed paintings on display. Anyone recognize the small yellow schoolhouse in the bottom left painting? If so, just for fun, contact me and let me know.

After Open Studios, just like last year, my husband and I took a trip to Capitol Reef National Park. We had a wonderful time hiking and camping. I took way too many photos, to save ideas for painting. Who knows what I’ll do, but I did buy some bigger (for me) canvases, and I plan to attempt some bigger desert landscape paintings. We will see what happens!

Questions and comments are welcome! Contact me any time.
